Posing the theological question, does God have a sense of humor, “The Bible: The Complete Word of God (abridged)” seems to prove that undoubtedly he has.

Kilauea Drama & Entertainment Network (KDEN) presents this hilarious adventure into the quirks and conundrums of the Bible for two weekends at KMC’s Kilauea Theater. The show will run for two weekends opening March 25 and playing through April 3, Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 2:30 p.m.
The premise is fairly straightforward: Present the books of the Bible in chronological order.
Of course, with 39 books in the Old Testament and 27 books in the New Testament, it’s easy to imagine that two hours just isn’t enough time. And this is where it gets funny. The subject is one that’s liable to cause some to bristle at its treatment of the holy book. But, this is where it’s important to emphasize that the show is about the Bible, not Christianity, or Judaism, or Islam — or any religion. They even go out of their way to clarify that.
The Bible: The Complete Word of God (abridged) is by Adam Long, Reed Martin and Austin Tichenor, aka Reduced Shakespeare Company.
Additional material is by Matthew Croke. The show reunites Stephen Bond, Wilfred Tyler Gee, and Chris Tomich who performed The Complete Works of Shakespeare (abridged) three years ago as Bond’s senior project for his performing arts from UH-Hilo. The trio is directed by Suzi Bond with Angie Nakamura as the company stage manager.
Tickets are $15 general, $12 for students, seniors and $10 for children 12 and under and are available at Kilauea General Store, Kea’au Natural Foods and The Most Irresistible Shop in downtown Hilo.
